What Went Down: Fashion East X Dazed X Browns
They say there are three landmarks you can see on Earth from space: the Great Wall Of China, the Great Barrier Reef, and the queue to the Fashion East X Dazed X Browns party.
Thrown in honour of Fashion East’s belated 20th birthday, this was the party we’d all been waiting for, nay, praying for. Well, more than one prayer was answered that night, a soirée where fashion’s finest met to celebrate two decades of Lulu Kennedy’s iconic fashion incubator (and the finale of another fabulous London Fashion week.
Held in The Standard Hotel’s Decimo restaurant, tables were cleared to make way for a raucous, red-lit dancefloor, presided over by a host of London’s hottest DJs. First up James Massiah took to the decks, followed by Hasani, Lil C, Manama b2b with A.G. and finally Suutoo and Misha Mafia (aka. Mischa Notcutt, stylist and casting director responsible for the Fashion East show’s stunning selection of models).
Guests in attendance read like the 2021 arts and society playbook; Jorja Smith joined Kelsey Lu (dressed in a black Simone Rocha creation), Little Simz (who swung by after sitting front row with Anna Wintour, Edward Enniful and Naomi Campbell at the Fashion East show), and musicians Pa Salieu, Rei and DJ Honey Dijon. Browns 50 campaign star Shygirl was also in attendance, with her song “Tasty” setting off an explosion of confetti cannons which rained down on the dancefloor halfway through the night.

Dazed’s new editor-in-chief Ib Kamara joined executive editorial director Lynette Nylander and the magazine’s founder, Jefferson Hack, alongside designers Christopher Kane, Erdem Moralioglu, Mowalola and Browns Focus stars/ Fashion East alumni Saul Nash and Maximilian. Olympian Dina Asher-Smith took a night off from the training, and also spotted in the crowd was activist and speaker Janaya Future Khan, Drag Race’s Bimini and Tayce and girl-of-the-moment Iris Law. Friends and family of Browns were all in attendance including Bibi Abdulkadir, Georgia Moot and recent Browns Brook Street Resident Issac Poleon. And of course, the queen herself, the one and only Lulu Kennedy.
Cocktails were supplied by Cîroc, whilst nibbles such as mini vegan hot dogs, chicken yakitori skewers, salmon bites and mac and cheese croquettes were quickly scarfed by hungry partygoers. Taking a break from the dancefloor, guests chatted on the rooftop whilst taking in the view of the London skyline from Decimo’s impressive penthouse panorama.

All in all it was a triumphant return to form, as well as a fitting celebration of all that Fashion East, Dazed and Browns collectively stand for - supporting new talent, nurturing our communities, and celebrating the best of British fashion, right here in our London home.
